The Indian Army’s Southern Command has concluded a 13-day exercise, ‘Amogh Jwala’, aimed at validating technology-driven mechanised warfare capabilities in a multi-domain operational environment.

The exercise executed by White Tiger Division, which began on March 6 at the Babina Field Firing Ranges, culminated on Wednesday and involved the integrated employment of mechanised forces with aviation, unmanned systems and advanced battlefield technologies.

According to the Army, the exercise focused on testing new operational concepts, force structures and procedures relevant to modern warfare, while demonstrating how different combat domains can be integrated during high-intensity operations.

Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Command, witnessed the final phase of the exercise and complimented the participating troops for their professionalism and operational readiness.

He said the ability to absorb new technologies and ensure jointness across domains would be critical for the Army’s future combat capability.

“Technology absorption, jointness and seamless integration of land, air, cyber, space, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Electronic Warfare capabilities are fundamental to building an agile and combat-ready force capable of dominating the evolving battlespace,” he said.

The exercise demonstrated the integrated employment of mechanised forces with attack helicopters, fighter aircraft, unmanned aerial systems and counter-drone platforms operating within a network-enabled battlefield architecture supported by robust command and control systems.

Army officials said the drills featured high-tempo mechanised manoeuvres, synchronised fire and movement, real-time drone-enabled surveillance and target acquisition, and precision engagement.

Advanced surveillance systems, secure communication networks and precision firepower were also employed to enhance battlefield transparency and enable faster decision-making.

The exercise additionally validated integrated air-land manoeuvres, battlefield airspace management for unmanned aerial systems and counter-UAS operations, along with reorganised force structures incorporating emerging technologies.

Officials said the drills highlighted the growing integration of electronic warfare, air defence and night-fighting capabilities with intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance assets — reflecting the Army’s push towards building a more networked and future-ready force.
