France’s Dassault Systemes is planning to set up a centre of excellence (CoE) in Gujarat which is aimed at providing high end training to engineers.The proposed centre will come up at Gujarat Technological University (GTU) campus. The proposal was discussed at the GTU board of governors meeting on Tuesday.
“We have received preliminary proposal and have given an in-principle approval for the same. After a meeting with the company officials, the investment size and other details will be explored,” said Navin Sheth, vice-chancellor, GTU. He said that the Gujarat centre would be Dassault Systemes’ third such venture in the country after setting up CoEs in Hyderabad and Bangalore. The proposed CoE is expected to come up either at GTU’s existing campus in Chandkheda or their new university campus at Lekawada near Gandhinagar that is being built in a sprawling 200 acres area, sources said.While the land for the CoE will be provided by GTU, the university will not provide any financial assistance.
