Defence ministry approves purchase of 70,000 Sig Sauer assault rifles for Army

In a major effort to bolster the capabilities of soldiers stationed along the borders with China and Pakistan, India is set to acquire an additional 70,000 Sig Sauer assault rifles from the United States.

The decision to buy these assault rifles was taken at a recent Defence Acquisition Council meeting, government officials informed India Today.
