For the first time in history, two of the world’s most advanced fifth-generation fighter jets — Russia’s Su-57 and America’s F-35 Lightning II — will participate in Aero India 2025. The Defence Ministry confirmed this landmark development on Sunday, ahead of the air show set to take place at the Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bengaluru from February 10 to 14.
Billed as Asia’s largest air show, the 15th edition of Aero India promises to showcase cutting-edge aerospace technology and mark a milestone in global defence collaboration. This rare convergence of Eastern and Western stealth fighter technology is expected to captivate aviation enthusiasts, defence experts, and military personnel alike, providing unparalleled insights into the capabilities of these state-of-the-art warplanes.
Spotlight on the Su-57 and F-35 Lightning II
The Su-57, described by the Defence Ministry as Russia’s premier stealth multi-role fighter, is designed for air superiority and precision strike missions.
“Equipped with advanced avionics, super cruise capability, and stealth technology, the Su-57 will demonstrate high-speed aerial manoeuvres and tactical capabilities that showcase its agility, firepower, and stealth,” the Ministry said.
Making its Aero India debut, the Su-57 is poised to be a key attraction with live demonstrations of its combat prowess.
Meanwhile, the F-35 Lightning II, the U.S. Air Force’s flagship fighter and produced by Lockheed Martin, is famous for its advanced stealth, unparalleled situational awareness, and networked combat capabilities.
“The F-35 is the most widely deployed fifth-generation fighter in the world. Its presence at Aero India 2025 will provide visitors with a close-up view of one of the most sophisticated warplanes ever built,” the Ministry noted.
A Unique Platform for Global Defence Collaboration
The simultaneous participation of the Su-57 and F-35 underlines India’s growing role as a global defence and aerospace cooperation hub. Aero India 2025 will offer a rare opportunity for side-by-side comparisons of Eastern and Western fifth-generation fighter technologies, a prospect that defence analysts and industry professionals are eagerly anticipating.
Beyond the spectacle, the inclusion of these aircraft underscores Aero India’s significance as a platform for fostering international defence partnerships, technological exchange, and strategic collaboration.
With its theme, “The Runway to a Billion Opportunities,” Aero India 2025 continues to solidify its position as a premier event on the global aerospace calendar. The participation of these advanced aircraft is set to elevate this year’s edition to new heights, making it a must-attend for stakeholders across the aerospace and defence sectors.
