The Indian Army and the United States Army have begun the 16th edition of Exercise Vajra Prahar at the Special Forces Training School in Bakloh, Himachal Pradesh, on Wednesday. The joint drill will continue till March 16 and centres on mountain warfare, joint planning and tactical operations.

Around 45 Indian Special Forces personnel and 12 US Green Berets are taking part in the exercise. The training brings together small teams from both sides to work through mission planning, physical conditioning and coordinated field drills in high-altitude terrain.
The previous edition of Vajra Prahar was conducted at the Orchard Combat Training Centre in Idaho, United States, in November 2024.

Officials said the exercise is aimed at improving coordination between the two forces during special operations. Troops will exchange operational experiences and refine tactics, techniques and procedures used in complex missions, particularly in mountainous environments.

According to the Indian Army, the interaction is also meant to build familiarity between the units, helping both sides operate together more effectively in future contingencies. Over the years, Vajra Prahar has evolved into a key engagement between Indian and US Special Forces, reflecting the broader expansion of defence cooperation between the two countries.
