The fourth edition of Exercise Tiger Triumph 2025, a bilateral tri-service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) amphibious drill between India and the United States, concluded on Thursday with an impressive display of joint operations during the Distinguished Visitors’ (DV) Day held at Kakinada.
Senior military and diplomatic dignitaries, including the Flag Officer Commanding Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Naval Area (FOTNA), the US Consul General, Commander of US Navy Strike Group Five, and the Deputy General Officer Commanding of India’s 54 Infantry Division, witnessed a range of high-tempo operations showcasing the deepening military synergy between the two nations.
The DV Day featured a coordinated demonstration of complex amphibious and aerial manoeuvres, including standoff and hard beaching, slithering operations by Special Forces from both countries using SC and Mi-17 V5 helicopters, and aerial participation by C-130 transport aircraft. The integrated operations involved personnel and assets from the Indian Navy, Army, and Air Force, alongside the US Navy, Army, and Marine Corps—highlighting a high degree of interoperability and operational cohesion.

Held from April 1 to 11, the exercise aimed to enhance joint preparedness for humanitarian and disaster response missions. It also provided invaluable cross-training on each other’s procedures, capabilities, and technology integration frameworks. First conducted in 2019, Tiger Triumph is a key initiative under the India-US strategic partnership facilitated by the Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement (LEMOA) that enables reciprocal logistics support.
The exercise was conducted in two phases: a harbour phase in Visakhapatnam from April 1 to 7 and a sea phase off the coast of Kakinada from April 8 to 11. The harbour phase opened with a ceremony attended by Jorgan K. Andrews, Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy, and Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Chief of Staff, Eastern Naval Command.
During the harbour phase, personnel engaged in Pre-Sail Conferences and Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEEs) on emerging technologies—ranging from medical support and drones to space-based capabilities—alongside cross-deck visits, ship-boarding drills, and friendly sports matches that fostered mutual camaraderie.
Exercise Tiger Triumph 2025 once again underscored the growing strategic alignment between India and the United States, particularly in the realm of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, an area of increasing global relevance in the face of natural and man-made crises.
