Indian Army launched a new digital platform titled ‘Friends for Life’ to strengthen professional engagement with officers from friendly foreign countries

The Indian Army on Thursday launched a new digital platform titled ‘Friends for Life’ to strengthen professional engagement with officers from friendly foreign countries.

Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi unveiled the website in the presence of Foreign Service Attaches from 39 countries.

According to the Army, the platform is designed to connect generations of military leaders from 99 nations who have trained at Indian Army institutions over the years.

The initiative aims to keep professional links and personal bonds formed during training in India alive, the Army said.

“The platform will foster continued professional engagement and rekindle enduring bonds among Indian and foreign alumni,” the Army said in a post on X.

The Indian Army said the platform would serve as a bridge between Indian officers and their foreign counterparts, many of whom later held senior command and leadership roles in their home countries.

The Army said more than 21,500 service personnel from friendly foreign nations have trained at its institutions over the past decade alone.

Through ‘Friends for Life’, the Army aims to build a global network of alumni to strengthen military institutions, enhance collaboration, improve interoperability and deepen defence cooperation with partner countries.

Officials said the platform reflects India’s growing focus on defence diplomacy and long-term military partnerships through training and professional exchanges.
