In a significant boost to its combat force regeneration capability, the Indian Army has signed a Rs 168.09 crore contract with Ashok Leyland Defence Systems Ltd to procure 54 Heavy Recovery Vehicles (HRVs).

These state-of-the-art HRVs will play a critical role in retrieving disabled, stranded, and damaged military vehicles across challenging terrains, including high-altitude regions and desert environments. Equipped with advanced lifting and winching mechanisms, these vehicles are engineered to withstand demanding operational conditions, ensuring seamless recovery operations in adverse situations.

Indigenously designed and developed, the HRVs align with the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative, reinforcing India’s commitment to self-reliance in defence manufacturing. By prioritizing indigenous production, the contract reduces dependency on foreign imports while enhancing mission success rates and operational readiness of the Indian Army.

The integration of these advanced recovery vehicles is expected to significantly improve logistical efficiency and battlefield sustainability, further strengthening India’s defence infrastructure.
