Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Anil Chauhan, IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal A P Singh and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi will attend a pioneering tri-services seminar at the Army War College, Mhow, on August 26–27, officials said on Wednesday.

The two-day seminar, Ran Samwad 2025, is themed “Impact of Technology on Warfare” and will bring together India’s top military leadership, veterans, defence experts and industry representatives. The event is being organised by HQ ARTRAC (Army Training Command) under the aegis of Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (IDS).

Officials said participants will share “hard-earned lessons” from India’s operational frontlines, including the experience of Operation Sindoor, and deliberate on ways to strengthen jointness among the armed forces. Three new joint doctrines, including one on heliborne operations, are scheduled to be released during the seminar.

Curtain-raiser in Delhi

A curtain-raiser briefing was held at the Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantonment, on Wednesday. Lt Gen Vipul Shinghal, Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Doctrine, Organisation and Training), said the seminar will examine the convergence of ideas on strategy, innovation and national security.

The two sub-themes are:

  • Emerging Technologies and Impact on Future Warfare
  • Reforms in Institutionalised Training to Catalyse Technological Enablement

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to attend on August 27, the concluding day.

Operation Sindoor in focus

The seminar comes three-and-a-half months after India’s Operation Sindoor. Asked if the operation influenced the seminar’s planning, a senior official clarified that preparations for Ransamwad 2025 had begun earlier, but the Sindoor experience will form an important part of the discussions.

“India needs to lead the strategic debate on future war. We were once a Vishwa Guru; we must reclaim that space and be more adept at fighting the wars of tomorrow,” the official said.

Strategic dialogue

In a video message released on X, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (CISC), described Ran Samwad as a “strategic dialogue” rather than a mere seminar.

“In an era where speed of decision is itself a weapon, we must think, train and fight as one force,” he said.

“From contested borders to cyber battlegrounds, India’s security environment is multi-dimensional and dynamic. Jointness is no longer optional; it is mission-critical. The success of Operation Sindoor testifies to this.”

Dixit highlighted that India’s armed forces are undergoing rapid integration with tri-service structures, defence–cyber–space agencies, and AI, autonomous and quantum systems being factored into planning. Ran Samwad, he said, anchors these changes in operational reality.
