The third edition of the India-Egypt Joint Special Forces Exercise Cyclone-III is currently underway at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan. The 14-day military drill began on February 10 and will conclude on February 23.
The exercise, which brings together elite troops from both nations, focuses on combat conditioning, tactical training, and joint operational readiness. The participating forces undergo rigorous drills, honing their skills in high-intensity combat scenarios that demand precision, agility, and seamless coordination. Their unwavering discipline and adaptability reflect their preparedness for real-world joint operations in challenging environments.
The training includes Close Quarter Battle (CQB) drills, survival techniques, demolition training, and combat medical skills. These exercises are specifically designed to enhance the troops’ ability to respond effectively to complex operational challenges, particularly in desert and semi-desert terrain. The joint drills emphasize endurance, adaptability, and mission-focused execution, ensuring both contingents can function as a cohesive force in high-risk situations.
“Beyond tactical proficiency, the exercise also provides an opportunity for Egyptian forces to gain first-hand exposure to India’s indigenous defence technologies and advanced weapon systems. Such collaborations enhance combat interoperability and strengthen diplomatic and military ties between the two nations,” an Army official said.
The exercise will culminate in a 48-hour validation phase, where both contingents will execute simulated counter-terrorism (CT) operations. This final phase will test their ability to plan, coordinate, and neutralize threats under high-pressure conditions, reinforcing their combat effectiveness in joint missions.
Exercise Cyclone-III stands as a testament to the deepening defence cooperation between India and Egypt, reaffirming their shared commitment to counter-terrorism and regional security. As both nations continue to strengthen their strategic partnership, this high-intensity drill underscores their dedication to enhancing military collaboration and operational synergy.
