European aerospace major Airbus has inked an agreement with the Indian Institute of Management in Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) to impart aviation education to professionals. This collaboration aims to equip engineers with industry-ready skills by implementing Airbus Beyond programs.
Rémi Maillard, President and Managing Director of Airbus India and South Asia, and Prof. Manoj K Tiwari, Director of IIM Mumbai, formally signed the contract on Wednesday. As per the terms of this agreement, IIM Mumbai will provide short-term aviation courses to aspiring and working professionals. According to an Airbus statement, these courses will enable participants to leverage the Airbus Beyond programs in diverse areas such as aviation logistics, supply chain management, operations excellence, cargo handling, strategic procurement, business analytics, and digitisation.
Maillard emphasised the importance of skill development and said, “Skill is the fuel that drives growth. At Airbus, we remain dedicated to realising the potential of India’s growing aviation industry and strengthening the ecosystem through our sustained skilling efforts. Under the terms of the agreement, IIM Mumbai will be responsible for coordinating courses, enrolling students, and offering infrastructure and logistical support. In the initial phase, Airbus will contribute trainers and training materials from the Airbus Beyond catalogue for short-term courses. Subsequently, they will collaborate in developing and certifying trainers for long-term courses in the later phase.
