Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed the Western Command’s operational readiness during his visit to Headquarters in Chandimandir today. The visit centred on evaluating current operational preparedness and emphasized the integration of advanced technologies, modernization efforts, and strategic reforms essential for addressing evolving security challenges.
Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, Army Commander of the Western Command, briefed the Army Chief on the progress of ongoing modernization efforts to enhance the Army’s operational capabilities to ensure agility and combat readiness. The briefing highlighted advancements in force modernization as well as logistical and administrative improvements crucial for supporting the Command’s tactical objectives. This review underscores the Army’s commitment to maintaining a state of readiness that aligns with contemporary defence needs.

During his visit, General Dwivedi toured forward operational areas in the Kathua-Pathankot region, where he received a briefing from the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Yol-based Rising Star Corps on the security situation and the troops’ operational readiness. The COAS praised the professionalism of the Rising Star Corps personnel and commended their recent successes in counter-terrorism operations, acknowledging their exemplary contributions to regional safety and security.
