General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), is on a three-day visit to Wellington and Secunderabad from March 25 to 27, focusing on advancing operational readiness and fostering technological integration within the Indian Army.
On March 25, General Dwivedi arrived at the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington, where he addressed officers of the 80th Staff Course and faculty members the following day. His speech emphasized the evolving security landscape, strategic foresight, and the transformative role of technology in modern warfare. He underscored the importance of adaptive leadership and operational preparedness in an increasingly complex global defence environment.

During his visit to the Madras Regimental Centre in Wellington, the COAS reviewed training and administrative facilities, stressing the integration of advanced technology into training modules to enhance operational efficiency. He also discussed key military transformation initiatives aimed at strengthening the technological adaptability and strategic responsiveness of the Indian Armed Forces.
The Army Chief then travelled to the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) in Secunderabad, where he was briefed on skill development initiatives in emerging technologies. He commended the institution’s contributions in areas such as counter-drone systems, robotics, quantum technology, and artificial intelligence and recognized MCEME’s role in supporting India’s self-reliance vision under Viksit Bharat 2047.
Highlighting the importance of technologically equipped soldiers, General Dwivedi called for integrating cutting-edge advancements into training curricula to prepare personnel for the latest generation of military equipment.
On March 27, General Dwivedi is scheduled to visit the College of Defence Management (CDM) in Secunderabad, where he will address student officers and present the Rolling Trophy before returning to New Delhi.
