The Indian Army organized the Idea & Innovation Competition – Inno-Yoddha 2024-25 in New Delhi on Thursday to showcase in-house innovations to address capability gaps and enhance operational, logistical, and training efficiencies. According to an Army official, this year’s event featured 75 innovations, rigorously selected through a multi-tier evaluation process from unit levels to command headquarters.
Of these, 22 top innovations were showcased during the event and received recognition. These innovations will now advance towards production under the Army Design Bureau’s (ADB) guidance, reflecting the Indian Army’s commitment to achieving the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India).
The event was presided over by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi, who praised the ingenuity and dedication of the participating soldiers. He remarked, “Recent conflicts have shown that innovation is not just a word but a mindset. It is the spark that drives progress and shapes the future.” General Dwivedi also highlighted the critical thinking and perseverance of the innovators, whose contributions are strengthening the Army’s capabilities.
Inno-Yoddha’s Achievements
Over the past four years, Inno-Yoddha has fostered notable advancements, including filing 26 Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and the successful completion of 21 innovations. The event also highlighted successful collaborations with the private sector, where three innovations have been transferred to industry for production.
Among these are Exploder by FC Tech, launched in June 2024, Agniastra by Red Kite Digital Tech, unveiled in October 2024 during the Army Commanders’ Conference by the COAS and Vidyut Rakshak transferred to IS Trading Company.
These milestones demonstrate the Indian Army’s resolve to bridge operational capability gaps while fostering a culture of innovation within its ranks.
Commitment to Progress
The Army’s sustained efforts through platforms like Inno-Yoddha underscore its dual focus on operational readiness and technological self-reliance. The initiative continues to drive advancements aligned with India’s defence modernization goals by transforming soldiers’ ideas into tangible solutions.
