Colonel Nikhil Apte (Retd) is a third generation Army officer, with his father and grandfather serving in the Indian and British Indian Army respectively. Having done his schooling all over India, he graduated in Chemistry from St Xavier’s College, Mumbai in 1998.He joined the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun and was commissioned in the Regiment of Artillery in Dec 1999. During his career the officer gained combat experience in Siachen Glacier and in Counter Insurgency in J & K. He also served at DBO in Ladakh and in Sikkim. The officer commanded an artillery unit for four years which was a part of the Mountain Strike Corps during its inception. He is an alumnus of the Long Gunnery Staff Course post which he was retained as an Instructor at School of Artillery, Devlali. He is also an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and was subsequently posted as a faculty to the distinguished institution. His service profile also includes a tenure at the Military Operations Directorate. The officer was nominated for the Higher Defence Management Course in 2019. However, he chose to retire from the services and pursue a career in the corporate arena.He is presently working in the corporate sector.
