Bharat Forge’s subsidiary, Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd (KSSL), has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with US-based AM General to supply Made-in-India advanced artillery cannons. The agreement, signed at IDEX 2025 in Abu Dhabi, marks a significant milestone, representing the first-ever export of Indian-manufactured artillery systems to the United States.
“This is a testament to our technological prowess and a major step towards our goal of becoming a global leader in artillery solutions,” said Baba Kalyani, Chairman & Managing Director of Bharat Forge. “This agreement underscores the trust and confidence that leading global defence firms, such as AM General, have in our capabilities.”
AM General Executive Vice President John Chadbourne highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership. “KSSL’s proven artillery expertise and our shared commitment to technological innovation create tremendous potential for delivering advanced artillery solutions to the US defence forces,” he said.
Strengthening US-India Defense Ties
KSSL, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bharat Forge, has been at the forefront of indigenous defence manufacturing, developing a range of weapon platforms, off-road protected mobility solutions, and high-tech military products. The company already exports its in-house designed and developed artillery systems, munitions, and mobility solutions worldwide.
AM General, a global leader in military vehicle platforms, has been actively exploring next-generation artillery systems. The latest agreement builds upon the companies’ prior collaboration on artillery platforms, paving the way for deeper engagement in joint defence initiatives.
Kalyani emphasized the broader significance of the deal, stating, “The supply of critical Indian defence systems to the US is truly groundbreaking. We at KSSL are proud to be the first Indian company to achieve this milestone. It reinforces our commitment to delivering battle-proven, cutting-edge artillery solutions for modern warfare.”
