Bharat Forge Ring Mill Facility Announced to Advance Aerospace Manufacturing in India

Indian defence major Bharat Forge has announced the setting up of a cutting-edge ring mill facility aimed at producing high-performance components for aero-engine applications. The new plant will support aerospace programs both within India and internationally and is expected to be operational by 2026, according to the company.

This development follows Bharat Forge’s recent long-term agreement with Pratt & Whitney Canada. The facility will be equipped with advanced technology tailored for precision manufacturing, with a focus on global quality, safety, and full traceability.

“The investment marks a decisive step in strengthening India’s foothold in the production of complex, mission-critical aerospace parts,” the company claimed.

Amit Kalyani, Vice-Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge, said, “This new ring mill is more than a manufacturing facility, it’s a milestone in our journey toward making India a global aerospace powerhouse. Deepening our partnership with Pratt & Whitney Canada is a proud moment for us and a reflection of our capabilities in high-precision, high-value component production.”

The facility is poised to become a critical asset in Bharat Forge’s aerospace portfolio, furthering its commitment to deliver world-class components for aero-engines that power both civil and defence platforms, he added.

“Our collaboration with Bharat Forge reflects our long-term commitment to building a resilient global supply chain. India plays a strategic role in our operations, and we are glad to support its expanding aerospace ecosystem,” Frederic Lefebvre, Vice President, Supply Chain, Pratt & Whitney Canada, added further.

This initiative comes at a time when India is accelerating its push to become a global manufacturing hub for aerospace and defence. With more than seven decades of aviation presence in India, Pratt & Whitney’s support and continued collaboration with Indian firms like Bharat Forge underscore the country’s growing importance in global aerospace supply networks.

Once operational, the facility will cater to various international aerospace programs and will serve as a benchmark in India for technologically advanced aerospace manufacturing, the company’s statement stated.

As part of India’s broader Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, the Bharat Forge ring mill aligns with the government’s goal to develop indigenous capacity in high-end manufacturing. The facility is expected to generate advanced skill opportunities and foster innovation in precision engineering, helping position India not just as a supplier, but as a critical value creator in the global aerospace sector.
