French aerospace major Dassault Aviation announced on Tuesday a major expansion of its Indian operations with the inauguration of new premises for the Dassault Aircraft Services India – Engineering Centre in Pune, Maharashtra.
In a statement, the company said the move is “in line with the achievements already made to fulfil its commitments under the ‘Make in India’ policy,” and represents a significant milestone in Dassault’s long-term partnership with India’s aerospace ecosystem.
The expansion will double the centre’s capacity to accommodate over 150 engineers, reinforcing Dassault’s efforts to build cutting-edge technological capabilities and foster local expertise. The facility will support both the company’s internal operations and its wider Indian and global supply chains, the statement added.
Dassault said the enhanced Pune centre aligns with its broader strategy to strengthen local design, engineering, and industrial capabilities while deepening collaboration with Indian partners and suppliers. The initiative will also contribute to the company’s offset obligations under the Rafale fighter jet contract with the Indian Air Force.
“This expansion demonstrates Dassault Aviation’s determination to invest in India’s aerospace future, while supporting the development of indigenous capabilities in line with the government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat vision,” the company noted.
The Pune Engineering Centre is a key pillar of Dassault’s growing industrial presence in India, which includes partnerships in manufacturing, maintenance, and technology transfer. The expansion comes amid New Delhi’s push to advance defence indigenisation and enhance private-sector participation in high-technology defence production.
