In a mammoth display of joint military strength, the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force have launched a large-scale tri-services exercise—Exercise Trishul—across the Western sector. The high-intensity wargames feature Rafale and Sukhoi-30MKI fighter jets, BrahMos and Akash missile systems, Prachand attack helicopters, T-90S and Arjun main battle tanks, as well as Indian Navy warships, including Kolkata-class destroyers and Nilgiri-class frigates. Over 20,000 troops are participating in the multi-domain exercise, which will continue until November 13.

According to officials, the ongoing drills involve 20–25 naval warships, more than 40 fighter aircraft, and several supporting platforms operating across land, air, and sea domains.
Speaking to the media in New Delhi on Friday, Vice Admiral A. N. Pramod, Director General Naval Operations (DGNO), said that the exercise is being conducted with participation from the Indian Army’s Southern Command, the Navy’s Western Command, the Indian Air Force’s South-Western Air Command, as well as units from the Coast Guard, Border Security Force (BSF) and other central agencies.

“The exercise aims to enhance synergy among all maritime forces and strengthen inter-service coordination,” Vice Admiral Pramod said, adding that the Navy is leading the initial phase, followed by the Army, with the Air Force taking charge of the concluding phase.
Officials described Exercise Trishul as the largest tri-services operation since Operation Sindoor, held earlier this year. The drills are designed to test interoperability, mission readiness, and joint operational capability across diverse terrain and mission spectrums.

A statement from the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) said the exercise “demonstrates Tri-Services synergy and integrated operations” and “exemplifies India’s resolve to safeguard its borders through the spirit of JAI — Jointness, Atmanirbharta, and Innovation.” The HQ IDS added that the exercise reaffirms the Indian Armed Forces’ commitment to building a tech-enabled and future-ready force, capable of deterring and winning wars in integrated multi-domain environments.

A senior defence official noted that the drills underscore India’s growing emphasis on joint planning, integrated command structures, and combat readiness to meet evolving security challenges in the region.

Adding an external dimension, independent open-source intelligence (OSINT) expert Damien Symon reported that Pakistan issued a naval navigational warning for a firing exercise in the same area where India has reserved airspace for Exercise Trishul. “While they geographically overlap, coordination between both sides would likely ensure things remain professional without any incident,” Symon posted on X (formerly Twitter).
India had earlier issued a notification for a separate exercise involving the Indian Air Force across its entire northeastern region, bordering China, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Bangladesh, reflecting the military’s simultaneous preparedness across multiple fronts.
