Defence Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh, with Russian Defence Minister General Sergey Shoigu, co-chaired the 19th India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military and Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-M&MTC) meeting that was held in Moscow.
General Shoigu, welcomed Mr. Rajnath Singh on his maiden visit to Russia as Defence Minister and termed India as an exclusive strategic defence partner.
Mr. Singh highlighted that the special and privileged strategic partnership between the two countries was further heightened after the Vladivostok Summit that was held in September 2019. He further emphasised on the importance of the Inter-Governmental Agreement between the two nations on manufacturing of spares, components and aggregates in India through joint ventures that would help reduce cost, resulting in progressive indigenisation.
