DRDO successfully carried out a salvo launch of two indigenously developed Pralay missiles on 31 December 2025

India on Wednesday successfully carried out a salvo launch of two indigenously developed Pralay missiles, marking another milestone in the country’s tactical missile capability. The test was conducted by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) off the coast of Odisha at around 10:30 am as part of user evaluation trials.

Both missiles were fired in quick succession from the same launcher and “followed the intended trajectory, meeting all flight objectives,” the Ministry of Defence said in a statement. Tracking sensors deployed by the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur monitored the flights, while telemetry systems installed aboard ships near the impact points confirmed the terminal events.

Pralay is a solid-propellant, quasi-ballistic missile equipped with advanced guidance and navigation systems to deliver high-precision strikes. It can carry multiple types of conventional warheads against a range of ground targets.

The missile has been developed by DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat in Hyderabad, in collaboration with several DRDO laboratories and Indian defence industry partners. Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited served as development-cum-production partners and also integrated the systems used in the trial.

Senior DRDO scientists, along with representatives from the Indian Air Force, the Indian Army, and the defence industry, witnessed the launch.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the armed forces, DPSUs and industry partners on the achievement, saying the successful salvo launch demonstrated the reliability of the Pralay missile system.
