In a series of coordinated operations, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Manipur Police and other security forces, recovered a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and warlike stores from various districts in both the hill and valley regions of Manipur, Indian Army reported on Monday.
A defence spokesperson stated that the operations, conducted over the past few days, took place across Churachandpur, Chandel, Kangpokpi, and Imphal East districts. The recovered items include a mix of sophisticated firearms, locally manufactured weapons, and explosives.
In a post on ‘X’, PRO Defence, Manipur said that Indian Army, and Assam Rifles, in coordination with Manipur Police and other security forces, recovered 29 weapons, ammunition and other war-like stores (WLS) from both hill and valley from Churachandpur, Chandel, Kangpokpi and Imphal(E) districts of Manipur.

The seized arsenal comprises:
- Firearms: One AK-47 rifle, one sniper rifle, a Burmese-made 0.22 pistol, five Burmese-made 9 mm pistols, one Burmese-made 7.65 mm pistol, one .303 bolt-action rifle, two .303 single-bolt sniper rifles, one 9 mm Carbine Machine Gun (CMG), five factory-made 12 mm single-barrel rifles, one .22 rifle, and a 12 mm shotgun.
- Assault Rifles: One 5.56 mm MA-4 assault rifle and one MA-1 (MK-I) assault rifle.
- Locally Manufactured Weapons: Three mortars and a single-barrel gun.
- Other Items: An air gun, grenades, a large cache of assorted ammunition, and other warlike stores.
The spokesperson emphasized that these recoveries underscore the exceptional coordination and operational synergy between the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, and other law enforcement agencies. He further added that such efforts highlight their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace, security, and stability in the region.
The recovered weapons and ammunition have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation.
