The Indian Navy successfully concluded the 2025 edition of its flagship Theatre Level Operational Exercise (TROPEX) in early March, following an intense three-month-long operational cycle from January to March. The exercise served as a crucial platform for validating key naval operational concepts and assessing combat readiness.

According to the Indian Navy, TROPEX-25 encompassed a wide range of complex maritime operations, including the Amphibious Exercise (AMPHEX), a Joint Work-Up Phase focused on precision strikes, Cyber and Electronic Warfare drills, and an advanced Tactical Phase.

Set in the vast expanse of the Indian Ocean—including the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal—the operational theatre extended approximately 4,300 nautical miles from north to south, reaching 35 degrees south latitude, and 5,000 nautical miles from the Strait of Hormuz in the west to the Sunda and Lombok Straits in the east.

TROPEX-25 witnessed the participation of approximately 65-70 Indian Naval warships, 9-10 submarines, and over 80 aircraft of various types. The exercise also saw extensive joint operations with the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Coast Guard, featuring assets such as Sukhoi-30 and Jaguar fighters, C-130 transport aircraft, AWACS surveillance platforms, aerial refuellers, over 600 infantry troops, and more than 10 Coast Guard ships.

The exercise underscored the Indian Navy’s ability to conduct integrated and synchronized operations across multiple domains, reinforcing its capability to safeguard India’s maritime interests. The high level of operational synergy achieved during TROPEX-25 highlighted the seamless coordination between the armed forces in executing theatre-level scenarios, according to official statement.

TROPEX-25 marked the successful culmination of an intense operational campaign, reaffirming the Indian Navy’s commitment to being a Combat-ready, Credible, Cohesive, and Future-ready Force that ensures national security in the maritime domain.
