The Indian Navy’s frontline frigate, INS Tabar, arrived in Casa Blanca, Morocco on 8 July for a three-day visit. This visit aims to strengthen the bilateral relations between India and Morocco, which span diverse fields, including regular interactions between the two Navies, as stated by the Indian Navy’s Spokesperson.
Morocco has a unique geographical position, sharing a coastline with the Mediterranean and Atlantic. INS Tabar’s visit not only aims to strengthen these bonds but also to explore newer avenues of bolstering the relationship between the two Navies, showing a forward-looking and optimistic approach.
INS Tabar is a stealth frigate built for the Indian Navy in Russia. It is commanded by Captain MR Harish and has a complement of 280 personnel. The ship is equipped with a versatile range of weapons and sensors and is among the earliest stealth frigates of the Indian Navy. It is part of the Indian Navy’s Western Fleet, based at Mumbai under the Western Naval Command.
According to the Navy’s statement, during the three-day stay at Casablanca port, the ship’s crew will engage in a series of professional interactions with the Royal Moroccan Navy. These interactions, conducted with the utmost professionalism, will pave the way for a PASSEX at sea upon departure from Casablanca. These engagements aim to enhance interoperability and observe and learn from each other’s ‘Best Practices’.
