In a push for energy infrastructure safety and defence resilience, the Maharashtra Defence and Aerospace Venture Fund (MDAVF) has invested in Atom Alloys India Pvt Ltd, a deep-tech start-up known for its explosion-resistant fuel storage technology.

The investment, facilitated by IDBI Capital Markets & Securities Ltd., marks a strategic government-backed initiative to scale passive explosion-prevention systems across critical fuel infrastructure, including LPG, diesel, petrol, and renewable fuel storage.

Atom Alloys’ patented material system is designed to prevent explosions without the use of sensors or chemicals. Validated across military and commercial platforms, it remains effective even after projectile impact, sabotage, or catastrophic failure, offering next-generation safety in high-risk scenarios.

Recently recognised with the National Start-up Award in the Deep Tech – Safety & Security category by the Government of India, Atom Alloys is emerging as a key player in national infrastructure protection.

“Atom Alloys is setting new benchmarks in infrastructure safety,” said Amey Belorkar, Senior VP at IDBI Capital. “This investment is not just financial, it’s a commitment to national security. Their passive, award-winning technology is exactly the kind of deep-tech innovation India needs to lead in fuel resilience.”

Vikram Jain, Assistant VP at IDBI Capital, added, “We look to invest in solutions that solve high-impact national challenges. Atom Alloys has developed a breakthrough that combines purpose and precision.”

A senior analyst at a national defence think tank noted, “This technology doesn’t just extinguish fires, it prevents explosions entirely, even in battlefield conditions. It’s a game-changer.”

The announcement comes amid growing attention on energy infrastructure security, particularly following Operation Sindhoor, which exposed critical vulnerabilities to aerial and sabotage attacks. MDAVF’s investment signals a shift towards passive, preemptive defence technologies in India’s national security strategy.
