Air Defence Fire Control Radars contract to BEL
Defence Ministry has signed a Rs 2,000 crore contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for supply of Air Defence Fire Control Radars for Indian Army

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a Rs 2,000 crore contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for the supply of state-of-the-art Air Defence Fire Control Radars for the Indian Army. The agreement falls under the Buy (Indian – Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category, reaffirming the government’s commitment to self-reliance in defence production, according to a Defence Ministry statement.

The contract documents were formally exchanged in New Delhi on Friday in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and senior officials from the MoD and BEL.

With a minimum of 70% indigenous content, these cutting-edge radars are capable of detecting a wide spectrum of aerial threats, including fighter jets, attack helicopters, and hostile drones. Their induction will significantly enhance the operational readiness of the Army’s Air Defence Regiments and mark a significant milestone in the ongoing modernisation of India’s air defence network.

This procurement will also provide a boost to the domestic defence ecosystem, creating opportunities for Indian MSMEs and suppliers of critical components and raw materials.
