The UK-based engineering giant Rolls-Royce has signed a new agreement with India’s defence major Bharat Forge to manufacture fan blades for its latest Pearl 10X engines, expanding a long-term partnership that is strengthening India’s role in the global aerospace supply chain.

This new development will see Bharat Forge extend its current production scope, which already includes parts for the Pearl 700 engine, to now support one of Rolls-Royce’s most advanced business jet powerplants. The agreement was formalised at Rolls-Royce’s Dahlewitz site in Germany and marks a major step in Rolls-Royce’s effort to localise manufacturing as part of its plan to double sourcing from India by 2030.

“This collaboration reinforces our commitment to building advanced manufacturing capabilities in India,” said Sashi Mukundan, EVP of Transformation at Rolls-Royce India. “It’s a testament to how global partnerships can align with national priorities like ‘Make in India’, while supporting a resilient global supply chain.”

Bharat Forge, a flagship company of the Kalyani Group, has been a trusted supplier to Rolls-Royce since 2020, delivering critical machined components for the Pearl 700 engine programme. In 2024, the company delivered its first zero-defect fan blade, demonstrating precision engineering and manufacturing excellence. The new contract now adds the Pearl 10X engine, known for delivering over 18,000 pounds of thrust, to its portfolio.

“We are excited to grow our relationship with Rolls-Royce,” said Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge. “This agreement represents not just continuity, but progress, both in our technical capabilities and our shared vision for future-ready aerospace innovation.”

About Pearl 10X

The Pearl 10X is the most powerful engine in Rolls-Royce’s Pearl series, designed to power ultra-long-range business jets. It combines an efficient Advance2 core with a high-performance low-pressure system, offering best-in-class thrust and fuel efficiency.

Bharat Forge is currently the only Indian company producing fan blades for the Pearl engine family, highlighting the country’s growing capacity to deliver highly specialised aerospace components to global standards.

This partnership also strengthens Rolls-Royce’s legacy in India, which spans more than nine decades. Today, over 1,400 Rolls-Royce engines power aircraft used by the Indian Armed Forces, and more than 4,000 professionals are engaged in the company’s ecosystem across the country, including engineers, suppliers, and service providers.

The latest collaboration is part of a broader strategy by both companies to deepen industrial ties and co-develop high-precision solutions for the next generation of aircraft. As global aviation increasingly shifts towards sustainable and efficient propulsion systems, such partnerships are expected to play a key role in reshaping the future of aerospace manufacturing.
