On the 29th April 2024, the Indian Army fired BrahMos missiles over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, in the Bay of Bengal. The Eastern Army Command shared visuals of the missile launch on its X platform (formerly known as Twitter). The test displayed the long-range and targeting capabilities, according to the Indian Army.
The Eastern Army Command said that the “precision and strength” of the supersonic cruise missile are a demonstration of the Indian army’s commitment to defend India’s sovereignty and to maintain its regional stability. Furthermore, The Rising Sun BrahMos warriors showcased their capability as a formidable force for keeping peace and security in the Indo-Pacific region, according to the Eastern Army Command.

The BrahMos Missile System
The BrahMos missiles are India’s most ambitious missile system jointly developed by India and Russia. The missile and its variants have proven its strategic capabilities as it can be launched on various platforms such as ships, submarines, aircraft, and land-based mobile launchers. It is one of the most advanced and versatile missile systems developed oin India.
Recently, Admiral R Hari Kumar, the Indian Navy Chief commented that the Brahmos supersonic cruise missile will replace old missile systems of the Indian Navy acquired from other countries, as its primary weapon. This remark came after the Cabinet Committee on Security approved the acquisition of 200 BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles for the Indian Navy’s warships as part of a Rs 19,000 crore contract.
