The Indian Army is hosting the United Nations Troop Contributing Countries’ (UNTCC) Chiefs’ Conclave in New Delhi from October 14–16, 2025, bringing together senior military leaders from 32 nations that form the backbone of UN peacekeeping operations.

Delegations from troop-contributing nations began arriving in New Delhi on October 13, ahead of the three-day conclave that will provide a crucial platform to address operational challenges, evolving threats, interoperability, inclusivity in decision-making, and the role of technology and training in strengthening global peacekeeping efforts.

As one of the largest and most consistent contributors to UN peacekeeping efforts, India is hosting a high-level forum aimed at sharing best practices, enhancing cooperation, and fostering a mutual understanding of the future of peace operations. This initiative reflects the Indian ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which means “The world is one family,” according to a statement from the Indian Army, the forum’s host.

High-Level Participation

The programme will feature addresses by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Jean-Pierre Lacroix, UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations. Plenary sessions will include deliberations by Chiefs and Heads of Delegations, with discussions aimed at strengthening the effectiveness and inclusivity of UN peacekeeping missions.

The conclave will also host defence exhibitions, bilateral meetings, and cultural exchanges, showcasing India’s capacity-building initiatives and its longstanding commitment to global peace and stability.

Participating Nations

The 32 participating countries include Algeria, Armenia, Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, Burundi, Cambodia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Fiji, France, Ghana, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mongolia, Morocco, Nepal, Nigeria, Poland, Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Senegal, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Uruguay, and Vietnam.

India’s Leadership in Peacekeeping

India’s hosting of the UNTCC Chiefs’ Conclave 2025 comes at a time when UN peacekeeping faces increasingly complex and asymmetric operational environments. The discussions will focus on:

  • Enhancing interoperability among peacekeeping forces;
  • Integrating indigenous technologies to improve cost-effectiveness;
  • Advocating for greater representation and voice for troop-contributing countries in UN decision-making;
  • Sharing best practices for the protection of civilians and peacekeepers.

India’s Centre for United Nations Peacekeeping (CUNPK) has played a leading role in advancing these objectives — including the Conference on Women Peacekeepers from the Global South, hosted earlier in February 2025, underscoring India’s push for gender inclusivity in peace operations.

Expected Outcomes

  • Strengthened bilateral defence ties and cooperation;
  • A shared vision for reforming UN peacekeeping frameworks.
  • Expanded capacity-building and training collaborations among participating nations.

Towards a Safer, Unified Global Peacekeeping Framework

The UNTCC Chiefs’ Conclave 2025 represents more than a diplomatic engagement — it is a collective commitment by leading troop contributors to reinforce the global peacekeeping architecture. For nations like India, Brazil, France, Ghana, Tanzania, Uruguay, and others, the conclave reaffirms their role not just as contributors, but as architects of a safer, more inclusive, and resilient global order.
