The Indian Army’s Western Command has concluded Exercise Ram Prahar, a large-scale combat readiness drill conducted at Dudhala Dayalwala in the Jhilmil Jheel Reserve Forest near Haridwar. The exercise, held along the western theatre, highlighted the Army’s enhanced mobility, joint operations capability and growing emphasis on technology-driven warfare.

The day-long manoeuvres brought together mechanised forces, artillery guns, combat aviation assets and special operations units in a coordinated demonstration of modern battlefield tactics. Officials said the exercise reflects the Western Command’s ongoing transformation roadmap and lessons drawn from previous high-pressure contingencies, including Operation Sindoor, undertaken earlier this year.

Military formations conducted complex combat missions simulating threats on the western front, ranging from high-tempo armour thrusts to precision fire coordination and rapid tactical air support. The integration of sensors, communications networks and real-time data sharing was showcased as a key element of the Army’s evolving combat doctrine.

Observers, including military planners and defence correspondents, were given rare access to live mission execution and detailed briefings on operational planning. The demonstrations underscored not just frontline combat skills but also the logistics backbone required for swift mobilisation and sustained operations in fluid battlefield scenarios.

A senior officer present described the exercise as “a testament to the Army’s resolve to safeguard the nation with modern preparedness and a spirit of operational excellence,” adding that the drill reflects a wider focus on multi-domain operations, inter-service cooperation and improved strike potential.

Defence analysts say Ram Prahar is another marker of the Army’s ongoing modernisation in the western sector, reinforcing its deterrence posture amid shifting regional security dynamics. The Western Command is expected to conduct similar integrated drills as part of its regular training cycle to maintain peak readiness and ensure formations remain prepared for emerging threats in 21st-century warfare.
