Zen Technologies expands into naval simulation domain with the acquisition of Applied Research International Ltd

In a move that marks a strategic expansion of its defence simulation capabilities, Zen Technologies has announced the completion of its acquisition of the remaining 24% equity stake in Applied Research International Private Limited (ARIPL). With this transaction, ARIPL now becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of Zen Technologies.

Zen had earlier acquired a 76% majority stake in February 2025, and this latest acquisition consolidates its control over ARIPL, a recognised leader in maritime simulation technologies.

Multi-Domain Simulation Capabilities

The acquisition significantly bolsters Zen Technologies’ presence across the defence technology spectrum. Known for its leadership in land- and air-defence simulation systems, the company is now expanding into naval and marine training solutions, enabling it to offer multi-domain simulation platforms for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

“This acquisition is a strategic leap forward for Zen,” said Ashok Atluri, Chairman and Managing Director of Zen Technologies. “By integrating ARIPL’s maritime expertise, we are now well-positioned to deliver unified, high-fidelity simulation and training systems that meet the evolving operational demands of India’s armed forces.”

Indigenous Development and Export Potential

The integration aligns with Zen’s broader mission to design and deliver indigenously developed defence technologies that support India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat goals. The combined capabilities of Zen and ARIPL will not only reduce dependency on foreign suppliers but also enhance operational readiness and training effectiveness across the services.

Beyond the domestic defence market, Zen aims to leverage ARIPL’s global reputation in marine simulation to target high-value naval contracts in international markets. The company sees this as a pivotal step toward becoming a comprehensive defence solutions provider across land, sea, and eventually air domains.

Integrated Training Ecosystems

With the addition of ARIPL’s maritime simulation portfolio, the company will now be able to design interconnected training ecosystems that simulate real-world operational environments across all domains.

“This is more than a financial transaction; it is a technological and strategic alignment,” Atluri added. “We are now poised to accelerate innovation, develop new solutions for naval forces, and strengthen our competitive edge in both Indian and global defence markets.”
