464 Bhishma Tanks will be Manufactured in the Avadi of Tamil Nadu

More than six months after the Center authorized the acquisition of 464 T-90 main battle tanks (MBT) of Russian origin, the Ministry of Defense has placed an order for the entire fleet worth Rs 20,000 million with the Heavy Vehicle Factory in Chennai

According to the current production capacity of the factory, which is approximately 120 tanks per year, it could take more than four years to deliver the 464.

When the acquisition was approved in April this year, the value of the agreement should be a little more than Rs 13,000 million. But multiple sources from the Artillery Factory Board (OFB) confirmed Thursday that the order had been valued at 20,000 crore. Read More…
