A very cogent article by Rear Admiral Shrikhande on the issues bedeviling the US-2 in particular and India-Japan defence cooperation in general. The most consequential cite, for me, in this article was Japan’s Three principles governing Transfer of Defense Equipment and Tech. It appears that the Japanese are emulating or even outdoing the Americans with their Export Control Regulations. And that makes the Japanese worse than the Americans; the latter atleast lend their geopolitical heft on the global stage while the former are yet to emerge as a force of significant consequence in global geopolitics.

Finally, a note to Admin: Thank you for providing platform to various senior retired personnel from all the Services to voice their opinions. It is always insightful to read and hear their thoughts on defence matters.

Well here we are in 2022 and this plane in operating every day. Where’s the replacement? The biggest thing the US has failed in with every new piece of equipment that comes out is never relieving the old equipments mission. LCU’s, LCS’s, Ford Carriers. The list goes on while these things get older
