To brainstorm the country’s overall security situation, this year’s first Army Commanders’ Conference kicks off with a virtual session on Wednesday. It will be followed by a physical gathering of commanders in the national capital on April 1-2. During this conference, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address and engage with top brass of the military leadership. This forum serves as a crucial platform for the top leadership of the Indian Army to discuss conceptual matters, evaluate the prevailing security landscape, and set key priorities. It also aims to enable significant policy decisions and chart future strategic directions.
The conference will be chaired by the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Manoj Pande, with Army Commanders joining virtually from their respective headquarters. The conference agenda will encompass critical topics about the field army and veterans’ welfare. Distinguished subject matter experts will also be present in the discussions on the evolving geopolitical landscape and its implications for national security.
During the physical sessions on the day one, the Army’s top leadership will engage in intensive brainstorming sessions aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness, fostering a culture of innovation and adaptability, and investing in training and development programs to ensure readiness for future challenges. The welfare of service personnel will be addressed, with a focus on improving the quality of life for soldiers and their families.
Following these sessions, the Investment Advisory Committee of the Army Group Insurance will convene under the chairmanship of the COAS. This meeting will involve experts in financial management, discussing various welfare measures and schemes for the financial security of serving soldiers, veterans, and their families.
On the concluding day, Rajnath Singh will deliver a keynote address. The Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral R Hari Kumar, and Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari will also address the gathering. The event will be attended by the Defence Secretary and other senior officials from the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
