Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), the Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking, marked a significant milestone by signing a contract valued at Rs 3,172 crore with Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL) on Friday at AVNL Headquarters in Chennai. The company informed the stock exchanges towards the close of trading on Friday that it has signed a contract with (AVNL).
The project, which involves supplying and installing an advanced, indigenously designed, developed sighting and fire control system (FCS) to upgrade the Indian Army’s BMP 2/2K Tanks, is a testament to BEL’s capabilities. The company has also secured other significant orders worth Rs 481 crore, including Doppler Weather Radar, Classroom Jammers, Spares, and Services. These orders, along with the AVNL contract, bring BEL’s total orders to an impressive Rs 4,803 crore in the first quarter of the financial year 2025.
According to an official statement, BEL, a leading force in the defence sector headquartered in Bengaluru, will be responsible for the supply and installation of an advanced, indigenously designed and developed Sighting and Fire Control System (FCS) for the upgrade of the Indian Army’s BMP 2/2K tanks. The company will also provide a comprehensive engineering support package, showcasing its expertise and commitment to the project.
“Additionally, BEL has secured other orders valued at Rs 481 crore following the last disclosure on 22 May 2024, which comprises Doppler weather radar, classroom jammers, spares and services, etc. With these, BEL has received accumulated orders totalling Rs 4,803 crore in the current financial year,” it stated.
