Boeing India has inaugurated the Boeing India Distribution Center in Khurja, Uttar Pradesh, spanning 36,000 square feet. This parts warehouse is dedicated to assisting regional aviation customers in optimising fleet utilisation. The establishment of this facility reflects Boeing’s ongoing commitment to expanding its footprint in India and delivering a locally tailored, efficient, and cost-effective solution.
“The Boeing India Distribution Center exemplifies Boeing’s dedication to fostering the growth of this market, in line with the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision. This centre will address the evolving requirements for spare parts for Boeing aircraft in India, reducing lead times, enhancing availability, and supporting the MRO industry in the region,” stated Salil Gupte, President of Boeing India.
Boeing is actively bolstering its customer service by expanding its global distribution network, including investments in and developing regional distribution centres. The newly established facility in India is part of a network comprising eight distribution centres worldwide, specifically managing the storage and dispatch of spare parts for Boeing’s commercial customers.
William Ampofo, Vice President of Parts & Distribution Services and Supply Chain at Boeing Global Services, emphasized the significance of the India Distribution Center as a pivotal move in Boeing’s strategy to deliver parts and services precisely when and where customers require them. “It also underscores our dedication to providing efficient, cost-effective solutions for Boeing’s commercial airplane customers in the region,” he added.
Boeing’s commitment to this endeavour was initially announced at Aero India 2023, with the distribution centre becoming operational in December 2023, where the first parts were dispatched to customers. Strategically located along India’s Eastern Freight Corridor, near Delhi and the upcoming Jewar airport, the distribution centre is a testament to Boeing’s dedication to supporting growth and self-reliance objectives in India. Operated in collaboration with third-party logistics provider DB Schenker, the warehouse prioritises innovation, safety, and sustainability in its operations.
Kinjal Pande, Chief Executive Officer at DB Schenker, Cluster India, and Indian Subcontinent, expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Boeing to establish a cutting-edge aviation-focused facility in India. The intricacies of warehousing and logistics, coupled with the unique demands of Boeing, presented a distinctive opportunity to create an innovative setup that addresses the specific spare parts support requirements of India’s burgeoning aviation sector. Pande emphasised that this initiative reflects DB Schenker’s enduring commitment to India, showcasing its dedication to expanding its local presence and customising services to meet the diverse needs of customers across various sectors.
The latest distribution centre stands out as Boeing’s recent advancement in India, building on a sequence of significant investments and agreements aimed at fostering the expansion of the civil aviation industry in the country. These initiatives include collaborating with GMR Aero Technic to set up a Boeing Converted Freighter line in Hyderabad and creating a Global Support Center in Gurgaon. Furthermore, Boeing has pledged a $100 million investment in infrastructure and pilot training programs to address the increasing demand for pilots in India over the next two decades, according to a statement released by the company.
