The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has transferred the Authority Holding Sealed Particulars (AHSP) of the ‘Nipun’ munition to the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) at the Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE) in Pashan, Pune. Nipun is a soft target munition designed and developed by the ARDE in collaboration with the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL) in Pune. The Director of ARDE, A. Raju, handed over the AHSP to Maj Gen J. James, Controller CQA (A), Khadki, Pune, the Defence Ministry said.
After successfully fulfilling the General Staff Qualitative Requirements (GSQR)-based evaluation, NIPUN Munition has been inducted into the Indian Army. Two Indian private industries, Economic Explosives Ltd (EEL) in Nagpur and Premier Explosives Ltd (PEL) in Secunderabad, have acquired the technology from DRDO. Both industries are currently engaged in bulk production as per the purchase order from the Indian Army. Over 20 munitions have already been delivered to the Indian Army. NIPUN is highly user-friendly, instilling confidence in its users. According to the statement, it is deadly against the enemy and completely safe during handling, transportation, and deployment.

Samir V Kamat, Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, congratulated the ARDE team on successfully transferring the AHSP of NIPUN to DGQA. He described this achievement as significant, as the munitions will significantly enhance the Indian Army’s combat capabilities.
