In a bid to tap business opportunities in the aviation sector, the Haryana government is developing a ‘Global Integrated Aviation Hub’ (IAH) on the existing Hisar airfield. Currently, the aviation hub is in Phase II of development. It envisages a 3000m X 60m runway with an international standards airport with ample parking for airlines and General Aviation (GA) operators, maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities, an aerospace university, a global training centre for pilots, engineers and ground handling staff and residential and commercial development.
“The Integrated Aviation Hub (IAH) shaping in Hisar, Haryana, is in line with the Government of India’s grand vision to boost domestic manufacturing and growth across industries. The IAH will facilitate unprecedented connectivity to a large airport of international standards and will fortify Haryana’s position as an aviation leader in the country,” a press note stated.
The work for the second phase of the aviation hub is going on at a war footing which has been named the Maharaja Agrasen International Airport. It is likely to be completed in three years. The Haryana government, last year, announced spending Rs. 946 crores on the construction work of Maharaja Agrasen International Hisar airport. The allocated funds would be spent on different heads to complete the ongoing airport construction works in the second phase.
To conduct extensive outreach in the market for IAH success in terms of saleability, the Civil Aviation Department of Haryana recently participated in the Aero MRO event organised by the MRO Association of India (MAOI) in New Delhi to promote the facilities and infrastructure being developed at IAH, Maharaja Agrasen Airport Hisar.
