India’s S-400 air defence system, which played a key role during Operation Sindoor, will be showcased at the 77th Republic Day Parade on Monday as part of the Department of Military Affairs’ Tri-Services tableau.

Titled ‘Tri-Services Tableau – Operation Sindoor’, the display will highlight joint military operations and coordinated action by the Army, Navy and Air Force during the four-day hostilities with Pakistan in May last year. The tableau is among 30 selected for the parade, with an overarching focus on self-reliance and national pride.

“The S-400 air defence system, which shot down a Pakistani Air Force asset at the longest range in the world, will be showcased on the Department of Military Affairs’ tableau for the first time,” Air Commodore Manish Sabharwal said on Friday.

Explaining the concept, he said the tableau reflects the seamless coordination achieved by the three services during Operation Sindoor. “It depicts all key elements of the operation, including the symbolic launch of a BrahMos missile by a Su-30 aircraft, which led to the destruction of one of the Pakistani airbases,” he said.

Air Commodore Sabharwal added that the inclusion of air defence assets such as the S-400 underlines India’s integrated approach to warfare. “This tableau highlights the resolve of the nation and demonstrates that when we fight together, victory is inevitable,” he said.

Operation Sindoor is expected to be a major attraction at this year’s parade, with the emphasis firmly on tri-service jointness.

The opening segment underscores the Indian Navy’s command of the maritime domain, establishing firm control over the sea front and denying the adversary any operational latitude, according to Defence Ministry officials.

It flows into the Indian Army’s steely resolve, as M777 Ultra-Light Howitzers deliver precise, calibrated fire to blunt hostile intent. Anchoring this combat formation is the Akash Air Defence System, representing India’s layered, integrated air defence architecture and a resolute, contested airspace.

At the centre of the tableau, the strike narrative unfolds, mirroring the new normal in India’s national security doctrine, swift response, controlled escalation and precision without compromise. A HAROP loitering munition neutralises an enemy air defence radar, highlighting India’s growing proficiency in unmanned precision warfare.

It is followed by a Rafale fighter, armed with SCALP missiles, carrying out a surgical strike against terror infrastructure. The sequence culminates with an Su-30 MKI launching a BrahMos supersonic cruise missile to destroy hardened aircraft shelters, an emphatic demonstration of India’s ability to strike deep, strike fast and strike with decisive effect.
