Ukraine’s Air Force successfully intercepted and destroyed 27 Russian attack drones last night. The Ukrainian Air Force claimed that the threat was neutralized thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of our mobile fire groups, anti-aircraft missile units, and Air Force REB assets in multiple regions.
Ukraine’s Air Force chief, speaking on Friday, highlighted the scale of the operation, stating, “As a result of the anti-air combat, all 27 enemy drones were successfully neutralized by our mobile fire groups, anti-aircraft missile units, and Air Force REB assets across multiple regions including Kyiv, Poltava, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk.”
Reuters quoted the commander as saying, “Our defence forces are well-prepared and committed to safeguarding our nation’s airspace.”
Russia’s Lipetsk region hit by ‘massive’ drone attack
Russia evacuated people on Friday from parts of its western region of Lipetsk after a “massive attack” by Ukrainian drones caused explosions, disrupted power supply and wounded nine people, regional governor Igor Artamonov said.
Four villages, some of them situated near an air force base, were being evacuated after a state of emergency was declared in the Lipetsk municipal district, Artamonov said on the Telegram messaging app.
According to the Interfax news agency, a fire was reported at the air base near the city of Lipetsk. Local emergency officials stated that calls on social media urging the evacuation of the entire city were part of a psychological warfare campaign by Ukraine, according to Artamonov. Ukrainian authorities have not reported any strikes in the Lipetsk region.
