The Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS), Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, today visited the Pune-based Military Intelligence School and Depot (MINTSD), where he was briefed about the infrastructure available to facilitate the training programmes for intelligence officers. Lt Gen Dwivedi also visited the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasala, and was updated about different aspects of the initiatives taken by the NDA.
During his Intelligence school visit, the VCOAS emphasised the use of technology in modern-day intelligence gathering. He asked future intelligence officers to get used to technology as the Indian Army is on the path of transformation and celebrating 2024 as a ‘Year of Technology Absorption.’
The VCOAS also visited the National Defence Academy, the only tri-service officers training academy. He was welcomed by NDA Commandant Vice Admiral Ajay Kochar, who briefed him on various training facilities and comprehensive training reforms undertaken by NDA, including the integration of advanced simulation technologies and the introduction of specialised courses in emerging defence technologies. Lt. Gen Dwivedi also interacted with teachers and officers and lauded their efforts.
As part of his endeavour to visit important military installations, public and private defence production units and institutions of national importance, Lt Gen Dwivedi recently toured Kanpur and visited a rifle production unit, Adani’s missile and ammunition facility besides military and industrial installations he also visited IIT-Kanpur to get glimpses of the training programmes and facilities provided to students. He expressed his deep appreciation for the contribution of institutions like IIT’s in nation building and for the armed forces.
