According to the Indian Army, this edition sees an important expansion in bi-service level participation, with personnel from both the Army and Air Force from both nations taking part for the first time. The Indian Army contingent consists of 47 personnel, including a Regiment from the Corps of Engineers and members from other arms and services. The objective of Vinbax 2024 is to enhance the joint military capabilities of both sides in employing and deploying engineer companies and medical teams to perform engineering tasks as part of United Nations contingents in Peacekeeping Operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.
The Vinmax-2024 field training exercise will enhance the scope of previous bilateral exercises, strengthening mutual confidence and interoperability between the Indian Army and the Vietnam People’s Army. A 48-hour Validation Exercise, including humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations, demonstrations, and equipment displays, is part of the schedule. This component aims to assess the standards achieved by both contingents while performing technical military operations in scenarios similar to those encountered in UN missions. Additionally, the joint exercise will provide an opportunity for troops from both contingents to learn about each other’s social and cultural heritages, an official explained.
