Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Anil Chauhan will undertake an official visit to Australia from March 4-7, reinforcing the growing defence partnership between the two nations. His visit underscores India and Australia’s commitment to deepening military cooperation under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with a particular focus on the Indo-Pacific region.

Gen Chauhan will engage in high-level discussions with senior officials from the Australian Department of Defence and the Australian Defence Force (ADF) during his stay. He is scheduled to meet Australia’s Chief of Defence Force, General Admiral David Johnston, Secretary of Defence Greg Moriarty, and the Chiefs of the three Services.

As part of his engagements, the CDS will visit the Force Command Headquarters to gain insights into Australia’s operational command structure and explore avenues for joint operations. He will also interact with the Australian Fleet Commander and the Joint Operations Commander, furthering discussions on maritime security and regional stability.

In line with India’s commitment to professional military education, Gen Chauhan will visit the Australian Defence College to address senior officers on strategic challenges in the Indo-Pacific. Additionally, he will chair a roundtable discussion at the Lowy Institute, Australia’s leading think tank, to exchange perspectives on regional security dynamics.

“This visit highlights the strengthening defence cooperation between India and Australia, reinforcing shared commitments to regional security and strategic collaboration,” the Defence Ministry said.
