In a significant stride towards bolstering the rotary-wing Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) ecosystem in India, Airbus Helicopters and Indamer have forged a strategic alliance to deliver cutting-edge after-market helicopter services. The collaboration aims to enhance the development of helicopter maintenance services and support the burgeoning fleet in India.
Under the official authorisation from Airbus Helicopters, Indamer will provide MRO services for Airbus helicopters. The MRO services will be carried out at Indamer’s state-of-the-art facilities located in Mumbai, New Delhi, and Nagpur. The inauguration of the Nagpur facility took place on Friday, graced by the presence of Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, Romain Trapp, Executive Vice-President, Customer Support and Services for Airbus Helicopters, Prajay Patel, Director, Indamer Aviation Pvt. Ltd., Rémi Maillard, President and Managing Director, Airbus India and South Asia, and Sunny Guglani, Head of Helicopters, Airbus India and South Asia.
Romain Trapp, Executive Vice-President, Customer Support and Services for Airbus Helicopters, expressed the significance of building a sustainable rotary-wing aviation ecosystem in India. He emphasized the collaboration with Indamer as a strategic move to cater to India’s growing fleet and contribute to the advancement of India’s helicopter MRO ambitions.
Prajay Patel, Director of Indamer Aviation, highlighted that over a decade ago, Indamer strategically focused on establishing its rotary-wing MRO division to meet the escalating demands of Indian helicopter customers. The collaboration with Airbus is a testament to Indamer’s commitment to this focus, and Patel expressed gratitude for the recognition.
The Indamer-Airbus Helicopters MRO partnership aims to deliver faster turnaround times for servicing, creating an efficient after-market experience for Airbus Helicopters customers not only in India but also in the wider South Asia region.
This collaboration is part of Airbus’ broader industrial footprint expansion in India, contributing to setting up a mature and comprehensive aerospace ecosystem in the country. Airbus has been a frontrunner in the domestic civil and para-public helicopter market, accounting for over half of the new registered deliveries since 2010. Currently, there are more than 125 Airbus helicopters, including leading platforms such as H125, H130, H135, H145, and Dauphin, in use by operators in India and South Asian region, particularly in the energy, commercial, and business aviation segments. The Indamer-Airbus Helicopters MRO collaboration is poised to play a pivotal role in advancing India’s capabilities in helicopter maintenance and support services.
