The Indian Army has finalised a clear modernisation and restructuring roadmap for its artillery arm following the Biennial Artillery Conference 2025, presided over by Chief of the Army Staff Gen Upendra Dwivedi.

The conference emphasised technology integration, operational readiness, and capability enhancement, including the expansion of Shaktibaan Regiments and Divaystra Batteries as key elements of future artillery strength.

Operational Lessons and Modernisation Takeaways

Held at the School of Artillery, Devlali, from 11тАУ12 December in a hybrid format, the conference brought together senior commanders to review operational, modernisation, and transformational priorities. A significant portion of the discussions focused on lessons from Operation Sindoor, providing insights to improve precision fire, surveillance integration, and tactical flexibility.

Presentations by Lieutenant General Adosh Kumar, Director General of Artillery, outlined the armтАЩs modernisation roadmap, training initiatives, and human resource development, establishing a clear framework to guide the RegimentтАЩs transformation.

Hybrid Participation Ensures Wider Engagement

Officers and Junior Commissioned Officers from 25 outstation locations joined the proceedings via video conferencing, allowing broad participation and enabling units nationwide to contribute to shaping the future trajectory of the artillery arm.

Focus on Drone and Technology-Driven Training

During his visit, Gen Dwivedi reviewed the Drone Experience Centre, including simulator laboratories, mission planning tools, loiter munition training, and mini-RPAS modules. The COAS noted the importance of these facilities in preparing artillery units for modern, technology-driven battlefields, highlighting the professional standards of instructors and the operational value of these capabilities.

CAATS Visit and Veteran Recognition

The army chief also visited the Combat Army Aviation Training School (CAATS) in Nasik to assess operational readiness. Before concluding his visit, General Dwivedi interacted with veterans from Nasik and Devlali, presenting the Veteran Achievers Award to five retired personnel in recognition of their distinguished service and continuing association with the Regiment.
