The Indian Army has awarded an emergency procurement order worth Rs 293 crore to Pune-based defence manufacturer Nibe Limited. The order includes launcher systems, accessories, and specialised ammunition for the Precise and Universal Launching System (PULS) multi-barrel rocket launcher, capable of firing multiple rocket types, including long-range variants with strike ranges of up to 150 km and 300 km. Deliveries will be made in phased tranches over 12 months.

In a regulatory filing to the BSE and NSE on Thursday, Nibe Limited said it had signed a supply contract with the Indian Army for the manufacture and delivery of equipment and ammunition for a universal rocket launcher system “capable of integrating multiple rocket types,” with the contract valued at Rs 292.69 crore inclusive of all taxes and duties.

The Vice Chiefs of the armed forces are authorised to fast-track acquisitions up to Rs 300 crore to meet urgent operational requirements under the emergency procurement framework to deal with war-like scenarios or critical contingencies introduced in the aftermath of the 2020 Galwan Valley clash with Chinese troops.

The delegated powers are intended to bypass lengthy procurement cycles and ensure rapid induction, replenishment or repair of frontline systems necessary for operational readiness.
The PULS system, developed by Israel’s Elbit Systems, is a versatile, all-weather, multi-calibre rocket artillery platform. It aligns with the Army’s long-term plan to expand and modernise its rocket forces, including the induction of additional Pinaka regiments by 2026.

In July 2025, Nibe entered into an agreement with Elbit Systems to manufacture PULS launcher systems in India under a partnership that supports indigenous defence production. Once inducted, PULS will become the first universal rocket launcher platform in service with the Indian Army.

The company had earlier secured an order worth Rs 150.62 crore in May 2025 from a leading Israel-based technology firm as part of its growing role in India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem.

With this latest order, the Army is expected to significantly enhance its deep-strike and rapid-response capability, a key requirement for future-ready, high-mobility operations.
