April 25, 2024: After an impressive passing out parade, 112 medical cadets of the 58th batch of the Armed Forces Medical College have joined the Armed Forces Medical Services as commissioned officers. A spectacular passing out parade ceremony was held on the 25th April, at Captain Devashish Sharma Parade Ground, AFMC, Pune. Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) & Senior Colonel Commandant, Army Medical Corps Lt Gen Daljit Singh were the chief guest at the ceremony. He also reviewed the passing out parade. The parade was commanded by Medical Cadet (now Lieutenant) Sushil Kumar Singh.
The DGAFMS lauded all the passing out medical cadets for their extraordinary academic skills and wished them the success in their future endevours. He also asked them to serve with utmost dedication to the armed forces and the country. The cadets of 58th batch achieved exemplary results in the winter 2023 exams conducted by Maharashtra University of Health Science. A total of 147 cadets appeared for the examination, out of which five cadets were from friendly foreign countries. Out of 112 cadets commissioned into the Armed Forces Medical Services 87 are Gentleman Cadets and 25 are Lady Cadets. Eighty eight were commissioned in the Army, ten in the Navy and fourteen were commissioned into the Air Force.
After the passing out parade DGAFMS presented awards and trophies to the meritorious cadets. This year the ‘President’s Gold Medal’ was awarded to Flying Officer Ayush Jaiswal and the ‘Kalinga Trophy’ to Surgeon Sub Lieutenant Bani Kaur. AFMC is considered to be one of the best medical colleges and ranked among the top five medical colleges in the country. AFMC was recently awarded President’s Colour by President Droupadi Murmu. The college has also received the Chief of Defence Staff Unit Citation.
Director & Commandant of AFMC, Lieutenant General Narendra Kotwal, Dean & Deputy Commandant Maj Gen Giriraj Singh, Senior serving officers, veterans, faculty officers, cadets, parents and families of cadets passing out, attended the event.
