With the theme ‘Raksha Kavach—Multi-layer Protection against Multi-domain Threats’, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will highlight groundbreaking advancements in national security during the 76th Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, on January 26.
The DRDO tableau will spotlight an array of state-of-the-art systems, exemplifying its commitment to technological excellence and self-reliance in defence. Key innovations to be featured include the Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile, Airborne Early Warning & Control System, 155 mm/52 Cal Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System, and Drone Detect, Deter & Destroy technologies. Other highlights encompass the Satellite-Based Surveillance System, Medium Power Radar – Arudhra, Advanced Light Weight Torpedo, Electronic Warfare System – Dharashakti, Laser-Based Directed Energy Weapon, Very Short-Range Air Defence System, Indigenous Unmanned Aerial System, V/UHF Manpack Software Defined Radio for Land Forces, Indigenous Secure Satellite Phone, and the UGRAM Assault Rifle.
Adding to the spectacle, DRDO will showcase its 2024 milestones through posters accompanying the tableau. These achievements include the Long Range Hypersonic Anti-Ship Missile, the lightweight bulletproof jacket ‘ABHED’, the Divyastra Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle, the ‘Zorawar’ Light Tank, and the Dornier Mid-Life Upgrade featuring radar, electronic warfare systems, software-defined radios, and electro-optics (‘Shyen’).
A key attraction will be the debut of the Pralay missile weapon system, a surface-to-surface tactical missile developed using state-of-the-art technologies. This system underlines DRDO’s focus on precision and enhancing national security. Furthermore, several DRDO-developed systems—including the Nag Missile System, Pinaka, BrahMos, Short Span Bridging System (10m), and the Akash Weapon System—will be displayed as part of the Armed Forces contingents.
Through its innovative contributions, DRDO continues to play a pivotal role in realizing the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India). By collaborating with academia, industry, start-ups, and the armed forces, DRDO reinforces the mission of ‘Make in India and Make for the World’ while strengthening national defence capabilities.
The Defence Ministry statement reads that the Republic Day Parade showcase is a testament to DRDO’s unwavering dedication to developing cutting-edge technologies, ensuring India’s security across multi-domain operations, and advancing towards global recognition in defence innovation.
