Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited (TBAL) has delivered its 400th fuselage for the AH-64E Apache attack helicopter, marking a key milestone in India’s integration into the global aerospace and defence manufacturing supply chain.
The 400th fuselage was rolled out from TBAL’s 52,000-square-metre facility in Hyderabad, where the company manufactures Apache fuselage aerostructures for integration into helicopters supplied to customers worldwide, including the US Army.
TBAL, a joint venture between Boeing and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), was established in 2016 and has emerged as a key Indian manufacturing hub for the Apache programme. Its Hyderabad facility employs more than 750 engineers and technicians and uses robotics, automation and advanced aerospace manufacturing technologies.
The company’s fuselages have been incorporated into Apaches delivered to multiple international customers. India itself received six Apache helicopters for the Indian Army in 2025, while the Indian Air Force operates a fleet of 22 AH-64E attack helicopters.
The milestone comes as India seeks to expand its role beyond domestic defence production and become a larger supplier of components and systems to global defence programmes. TBAL’s Apache production line represents one of the more established examples of Indian-made aerospace structures entering a major international military platform.
Around 1,300 Apache helicopters are currently in service with 19 countries, according to the company. The growing production base at Hyderabad therefore gives Indian industry a continuing role in supporting a globally deployed combat helicopter platform.
