Hyderabad-based Zen Technologies, a leader in defence training and anti-drone solutions, has launched an indigenous Fast Attack Craft (FAC) Simulator, designed to train naval operators and combat crews in ship handling, navigation, and modern maritime combat. The system has been developed through its subsidiary, Applied Research International (ARI) Simulation.

The simulator provides a high-fidelity environment that replicates real-world maritime conditions, incorporating 360° visualisation, six-degree motion platforms, and electro-optical/infrared targeting systems. It allows crews to practice ship manoeuvring, combat tactics, and remote weapon engagement in a safe and repeatable setting.

Among its advanced features are an AI-enabled instructor station for adaptive training and performance analysis, realistic propulsion and steering controls with haptic feedback, and simulation of medium machine guns and remote weapon stations with recoil effects. Training modules cover a wide spectrum, from close-quarter defence to countering asymmetric threats.

Speaking at the launch, Zen Technologies Chairman and Managing Director Ashok Atluri to BharatShakti highlighted India’s maritime security challenges, given its 7,500 km coastline and vast Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). “The growing need to counter asymmetric threats, secure trade routes, and strengthen naval readiness makes advanced training systems like the FAC Simulator crucial for operational preparedness,” he said.

The company stated that the system will enhance combat readiness, tactical decision-making, and team coordination in high-stress maritime conditions, while reducing the costs and risks associated with live training. With the new simulator, Zen Technologies is looking to strengthen indigenous capability in the naval training domain and support India’s drive toward self-reliance in defence technology.

In March, Zen Technologies received a significant order worth Rs 152 crore from the Ministry of Defence. This order is for the supply of the company’s advanced Integrated Air Defence Combat Simulator (IADCS), designed for the L70 Gun, intended for the Indian Army. The Zen IADCS enhances operator readiness and improves coordination at the unit level by providing hyper-realistic virtual environments that closely replicate real-world scenarios. This approach reduces the need for expensive and logistically challenging live training exercises, offering a scalable and adaptable solution with long-term operational and economic benefits.
